In order to optimize your Fume Hood’s containment performance and prolong its service life, we suggest the following guidelines to be followed by the chemical engineers:
- Always Operate with Properly Adjusted Sash Height: It is crucial to work with the sash placed no higher than the certified working height to ensure design face velocity.
- Prevent Airflow Blockage: It is important not to place large pieces of equipment directly behind the front baffles and block the rear baffles, and leave apparatus no less than 6 inches back from the sash opening of the hood to ensure laminar flow patterns.
- Regular Face Velocity Calibration: Carry out regular airflow testing (at least once a year) in order to ensure compliance with the exhaust system local corporate standards and ASHRAE/EN requirements.
- Thermoplastic Hoods Material Care: It is required to clean PP/PVC hoods regularly using neutralizing solutions in case of concentrated acids use.
